TSTM MAY CHALLENGE: 30 DAYS OF PALEO RESET

One of the main upsides of being quarantined is the opportunity to prepare all our meals. We suddenly find ourselves in this privileged position in which we have full control over what we consume, we have time to cook and in all countries worldwide we are still allowed to go out for necessities such as buying food.

We would like to take this chance to invite you to join a challenge that will benefit everyone, from the ones who are overweight and have been struggling with health issues to athletes who train for performance. We challenge you to 30 days of a strict “Paleo” diet to reset your body, prevent and even reverse chronic disease.

Under “normal” circumstances most people find it difficult to prepare all their meals and inevitably end up eating out more or less often, choosing the fast and convenient over the nutrient-dense and home-cooked. Eating out exposes us to unwanted, highly inflammatory ingredients such as sweeteners, industrial oils, gluten, soy, processed foods and seasonings. The goal of this 30-day challenge is to offer our bodies time to distress, decrease inflammation and identify food sensitivities without undergoing blood tests. After this period of restriction, we will reintroduce most foods that are healthy when well-tolerated such as full-fat dairy products, grains and legumes for a long-term, sustainable approach to nutrition.

The reset has proven to be a fantastic tool to burn fat, improve body composition, regulate blood sugar, stabilise mood and reduce allergic reactions on both people who started out being mostly healthy and people dealing with issues such as type 2 diabetes and chronic diseases. It includes all real, nutrient-dense foods such as meat and fish, eggs, all plants (starchy and non), traditional fats, fruit, nuts, seeds, sugar-free processed meat (overweight individuals will consume some of the listed ingredients in moderation and people suffering from autoimmune diseases will avoid eggs and nightshades). The reset diet doesn’t count calories, it simply focuses on the quality of nutrients.

30 days are an extremely short period of time in the economy of our lives and we believe everyone can easily get through this challenge with the right mindset, preparation and support. It is unlikely that a better time to try this out will represent itself in the future; we warmly encourage you to try. To help you out keeping your diet interesting and delicious, we’ll be sharing a recipe a day here on the TSTM blog and we’ll be available for moral support and to help you substitute ingredients if you need.

We try to buy organic, free-range, seasonal and local products as those are usually higher in micronutrients and lower in toxins, not to mention more environmentally friendly and cheaper.

We understand that eating real food can be more expensive than highly processed and refined foods but we find that many ingredients are still cheap and satiating and that the little extra investment in ingredient-quality usually saves money that many spend on healthcare and medicines are taken to control the symptoms of lifestyle-related diseases.

We will all be in this together and the entire team at TSTM will be available for support. In the next few days, we will publish articles giving tips on how to prepare for the challenge for a successful experience, explaining what the Paleo diet is in more detail and how it can make a tremendous effect on our overall wellbeing.

We look forward to starting this reset!
