Choosing a personal training niche can be confusing AF

A lot of online personal trainers are waking up to the idea of choosing a niche.

It's a good thing, as niche marketing is the best way to attract more clients online and build a sustainable career.

So you create a niche and add it to your Instagram bio and wait for it to start raining clients..

Nothing seems to happen.....

Did you do something wrong?

Is it the wrong niche?

"This niche marketing idea is BS, it doesn't work."

I get it. Niche marketing can be confusing AF.

But it doesn't need to be.

The problem is that most online personal trainers don't understand how a niche works.

Writing your niche statement is only step one of a much bigger picture. Once you've chosen WHO you serve and what they WANT, you need to perform a deep dive to understand how to relate your content to your niche audience.

This way, you'll start attracting more ideal clients.

A niche is not about how you train your clients—it's about how you communicate and build awareness around what you do and who you serve.

Let's say you want to share a post about cardio training and fat loss. Without a niche, you might post something like:

"Although cardio training can help you lose body fat, it's not as effective as weights training.

Clients often lose more body fat when they perform weights training two times a week and Long Slow Distance (LSD) cardio 1-2 times per week.

To learn more, send me a DM"

It's a valuable post, but who's it for?

It doesn't grab anybody's attention because it's not aimed at anyone specific. It's generic!

What if you had the niche: "I help busy mums who want to lose 6-12kg of body fat in 12-weeks."

Your post might look something like this:

"Are you a mum who wants to lose body fat? But you've not got a lot of time to train?

You've tried to run regularly, and you've been to some high-intensity classes here and there. But none of it seems to help, and you wish you could lose a few kilos.

Although cardio training can help you lose body fat, it's not as effective as weights training.

I've helped hundreds of mums lose fat and feel great. They did this by following my 12-week Busy Mum's Fat Loss Kickstarter program.

If you're tired of feeling tired and confused about what you're doing wrong, send me a DM, and we can get you on track to lose 6-12kg in 12-weeks. You'll be looking good and feeling great in no time."

Now that is a lot more powerful than the first post.

We know who it's for and what the client wants, and we've shown the audience that we know how to help them.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Busy mums are going to pay attention to this post. They might not action it straight away, but they'll follow your account and when they're ready to take action, your name will be the first to pop into their head

A successful marketing strategy is all about becoming memorable. You want your audience to remember who you are, who you serve, and how you can help them.

Therefore, you need to have a clear message, and you need to be posting the same message again and again and again. It takes time for people to remember, and people don's see all of your posts (even if they follow your account).

Inside the Protect The Asset Client Identity framework, we use eight steps to understand your niche market and invite your niche audience into a powerful story that they can relate to.
