What behaviours drive your personal training biz?

What behaviours drive your personal training biz?

In the last post, I wrote about why business values are important and how they can help you grow your coaching business. But, I ended the post by saying, I don't believe core business values in and of themselves will not transform your coaching business because:

  • They're too vague and meaningless.

  • They are cliche and not authentic.

  • No one is held accountable.

So what is the alternative?

Why Choosing A Niche Isn’t Pigeonholing Yourself

Why Choosing A Niche Isn’t Pigeonholing Yourself

This is a widespread fear that personal trainers have.

I've helped a lot of clients realise that by choosing a niche, they aren't limiting themselves and that they are strategically setting themselves up for success.

I struggled with this idea of niching down in my own business.

I spent years talking about "sustainable training" (what does that even mean?) or trying to market my online personal training business with general holistic health and fitness advice.

During this time, client attraction was slow.

A lot of online personal trainers are waking up to the idea of choosing a niche.

It's a good thing, as niche marketing is the best way to attract more clients online and build a sustainable career.

So you create a niche and add it to your Instagram bio and wait for it to start raining clients..

Nothing seems to happen.....

Did you do something wrong?

Is it the wrong niche?

"This niche marketing idea is BS, it doesn't work."

Becoming A Successful Online Personal Trainer

Becoming A Successful Online Personal Trainer

When I first started personal training, I had no idea how my career would evolve. I become a personal trainer because I wanted to have a rewarding career that helped people live a better life.

In the early stages of my career, I’d hang out at the gym and hope to attract clients by offering tip and knowledge bombs on the gym floor. Teaching group classes was another great way to get clients, as was client referrals from past and present clients.

My career aspiration were to build a successful online personal training career, but I hadn’t figured out how I was going to do it.

The lethargic feeling most of us have felt throughout 2021 is actually a gift.

It's showing us that our personal training career, as we know it, isn't working.

I say it's a gift because before the world shut down, we were all so busy and distracted we didn't realise how much of an impact our career was having on us.

We were stressed, tired and close to burnout.

So what's missing? Or, a personal training career supposed to feel like this?

In the last few years, the popularity of online coaching has exploded and a lot of personal trainers have shifted their careers online to meet the demand. But, some personal trainers are still sitting on the fence and have doubts about clients results.

Online coaching has had a bad wrap, how can you teach clients to move well if you're not working face-to-face?

I understand. I was very sceptical of online training when working in the gym. Then, I hired an online coach myself.

The fastest way to confidently build a sustainable online personal training career

A lot of online personal trainers have trouble explaining what they offer. They're afraid to narrow down their audience because they think they'll lose clients.

So, I've created a three-step sales pitch framework to help online personal trainers grow their business by clarifying their marketing message. When they do, clients engage.

It's the fastest way to confidently build a sustainable online career.

I'm an online personal trainer, not a marketer.

I'm an online personal trainer, not a marketer.

If you're serious about building a sustainable online personal training career, you're going to need online marketing. Sustained growth is the lifeblood of any online career, and it's going to require ... drum roll ... marketing.

For a long time, the most efficient way for a personal trainer to market their service was simple; buy ads. Ads worked. Ads were a bargain. Ads paid for themselves.

But ads are no longer the best way to market yourself.

People are tired of ads. They're looking for something more.
